Easter Baskets, Picnic Baskets: How We’re Celebrating Outdoors This Year

March 28, 2024 by Brooke Hansen

The days are longer, the birds are singing, and sleeves are shorter – which can only mean spring has spring. What else does that mean? Easter is a hop, skip, and a jump away. And what better way to celebrate the holiday than with a spring picnic? While we love cozy winter holidays and snuggling up to a roaring fire, we’re reading to wave goodbye to snow and slush. Celebrating this Easter outdoors is the perfect way to soak up some long-awaited sunshine and create a deliciously memorable Easter experience for the whole family. Cancel brunch reservations, stock up on portable sweets and treats, and tell your little ones to prepare their egg-hunting baskets. Our favorite picnic essentials will create such an adorable spread that your family might think you had help from everyone’s favorite bunny.

Spread Out

Unroll the perfect foundation for your Easter feast with our favorite Montecito blanket. While we can’t complain about April showers (after all, we love May flowers), we know that unpredictable weather can put a damper on picnic plans. Luckily, the blanket’s water-resistant underside can hold its own. Moreover, the blanket is machine washable, so everything from Easter chocolate to springtime sprinkles can be washed out once the celebrations are over.

Picnic Tote

Adorable picnic baskets like this are perfect for packing for small family picnics – but for larger crowds, we think a picnic tote is the way to go. A spacious, insulated tote can be packed to the brim with snacks, sandwiches, and treats and ensures your meal stays fresh. Need some recipe inspo? Dyeing deviled eggs with vibrant spring vegetables is a great way to add festive flair to everyone’s favorite finger food. Sandwiches are a picnic must-have, and we love veggie-packed sandwiches to make the most of spring produce. Chocolate and Easter go together like two spring peas in a pod, and there are plenty of ways to incorporate Easter candy in adorable, snackable treats. These sweet little nests use chocolate and miniature candy eggs: perfectly poppable, and a fun project for all ages. Of course, you can’t have an Easter celebration without carrot cake, but we think carrot cake cupcakes are ideal for an on-the-go picnic. Even mimosas can be made picnic-friendly with this insulated wine bottle tote – and what could be better than a refreshing drink outdoors on a spring day?

Baskets for All Ages

Is there anything more nostalgic than waking up on Easter morning to baskets full of sweets and then heading outside for a morning egg hunt? Craft a magical Easter morning experience with this personal-sized basket. Stock it with treats in the a.m., then have the kids take it outdoors for egg-hunting adventures. The basket then transitions seamlessly to picnic time, with its insulated, easy-to-clean interior keeping Easter munchies refreshingly cool even under the warm spring sun. (While miniature picnickers might be up for a meal of solely chocolate – and honestly, we can’t blame them – this basket has enough space for a variety of sweet and savory goodies.)
